“I am very happy for both
Patrick Fleming (Dunedin, New Zealand/Bayfield) and
Tyler Hibbs (St. Catherine, Canada/Governor Simcoe) on receiving these honors,” said Saint Francis head coach
Michael Casper. “They have worked extremely hard, and have been two great leaders for this team. Both of these players have made personal sacrifices and have put the success and integrity of this team before themselves. Patrick and Tyler have also enjoyed terrific seasons and are very deserving of this respect from the Northeast Conference's coaches.”
Fleming is the first Red Flash player to be named to the All-NEC first team since former teammate Bryan Maguire back in 2007. Fleming entered his senior year with 24 career points, and then proceeded to match that total over 16 regular season matches in helping Saint Francis to a No. 3 seed in the NEC Tournament. Fleming, who scored or assisted on nearly half of the Red Flash's goals this season, is tied for the league lead with eight helpers, and also ranks third in points (24) and fourth in goals (eight). He also ranks in the top-20 in the nation in both assists and points per game. Fleming also excels in the classroom and was recently selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District 2 First Team, which placed him on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
Hibbs has been a four-year starter for the Red Flash, and is enjoying is most productive offensive season as a defender. He has been a key cog in an SFU defense that has shut out six opponents in the regular season. He also provided an offensive spark with a career high two goals and three assists, and is tied for fifth with seven points on the Red Flash this season.
