LORETTO, Pa. (Nov. 18, 2010) – Saint Francis University seniors Patrick Fleming (Dunedin, New Zealand/Bayfield) (Dunedin, New Zealand / Bayfield) and Sean O'Reilly (Front Royal,Va./Seton) (Front Royal, Va. / Seton) were honored on Thursday by being named ESPN Academic All-Americans, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

O'Reilly garnered first team honors with a 3.98 grade-point-average (GPA) in Management Information Systems, while Fleming picked up second team honors with a 3.44 GPA in Business Management. Fleming and O'Reilly are the 35^th and 36^th Red Flash student-athletes to be honored by CoSIDA as Academic All-Americans, most among all Northeast Conference institutions.

“I am very happy for both Sean and Patrick,” said Saint Francis head coach Michael Casper. “These two have demonstrated excellence in the classroom and on the field, and are very deserved to be named to the Academic All-America teams. I couldn't be happier for them as they represent the very best of Saint Francis men's soccer. I would like to thank our faculty, staff and support services for all they do in helping our player achieve academically. This would not be possible without such committed and caring people. In our program, we talk about striving for excellence, not just on the field, but in all areas of our lives, and Patrick and Sean are representative of that.”

Fleming paved the way for a high-powered Red Flash offense this past season. He led the team with 8 goals, 8 assists and 24 points, which is tied for fifth for a single-season in program history. He was named a Northeast Conference First Team forward, and was named to the NEC All-Tournament team.

O'Reilly scored five goals with an assist as he helped Saint Francis reach the Northeast Conference game. In the NEC semifinals, he scored two goals in a win over Sacred Heart, earning a spot on the NEC All-Tournament team. A native of Front Royal, Va., he had three game-winning goals as a senior.

Fleming and O'Reilly helped guide the Red Flash to a record-setting season as the team set a school record with 11 wins and tied the program mark with six conference wins. Saint Francis advanced to the Northeast Conference championship match for the third time in the past five years.

To be eligible for ESPN Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.

The Academic All-American program currently selects 12 teams at the University Division level and 12 teams at the College Division level. The program currently selects the follow Academic All-America teams: men's and women's soccer, volleyball, football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's cross country and track, women's cross country and track, men's at-large and women's at-large.
