LORETTO, Pa. (Aug. 12, 2011) – The Saint Francis University Football team conducted its first practice in full pads Friday, just 22 days away from its season opening kickoff Sept. 3 against Wagner.
With over 60 freshmen on the roster this season, the Red Flash opened practice working in two different groups. Friday the team got together for the first time and 136 student-athletes battled both in position instruction and in offensive vs. defensive drills.
The Red Flash went 11-on-11 for the first time but did not go full contact. Special teams opened the practice before Saint Francis moved into offensive and defensive groups. SFU also took part in front 7-on-front 7 drills but despite the split during the practice head coach Chris Villarrial reminded the team that at the end of the day, “We are one.”
Following the practice offensive coordinator Ralph Del Sardo talked about the first week of practice with SFUAthletics.com
