LORETTO, Pa. (Sept. 19 2011) – Kyle Harbridge (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) of the Saint Francis University football team earned Northeast Conference Player of the Week honors Monday, the league announced.
Harbridge carried Saint Francis to a 19-point fourth-quarter comeback that erased a 49-31 deficit and gave the Flash a 50-49 win against Morehead State in a thrilling home opener. The junior running back made for a record-breaking day by rushing 30 times for 346 yards, the most in Saint Francis' single-game history and the most by a FCS player since the 2005 season.
He gained another 52 yards on four pass receptions and returned a pair of kickoffs for a total of 59 yards, finishing with a grand total of 457 all-purpose yards. He scored a single-game program record five touchdowns (4 rush, 1 receive), three of which came during the fourth quarter. Harbridge first found the end zone on a 28-yard touchdown pass from
John Kelly (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) in the first quarter. He then broke off a 94-yard touchdown run, registering the longest carry in Red Flash annals, to break a 14-14 tie early in the second quarter.
The 5-foot-10 Easton, Pa. product kicked off the comeback by bursting free for an 83-yard run to pay dirt 27 seconds into the fourth quarter. His four-yard scoring surge 4:11 later brought the Flash within 49-44. Harbridge, who averaged 11.5 yards per carry against Morehead, delivered the game-winning score from 10 yards out with 1:28 to go in regulation.
