EIVA Release
LORETTO, Pa. (Jan. 23, 2012) – For the second consecutive week, senior
Alex Kane (York, Pa./West York) picks up Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts on the road over the weekend.
Even though the Red Flash (1-4) struggled in the win column during the three-game weekend swing, Kane did his part in helping to keep SFU in the matches and keep the scores tightly contested. The 6-9 opposite posted 34 kills and nine total blocks, seven of which came against No. 10 Ohio State. Additionally versus the Buckeyes, the York, Pa. native tallied 18 kills on 39 swings for a .359 attack percentage. His kill total at OSU ties a career-high that he posted a season ago against Loyola.
Just a few weeks into the season Kane ranks fourth in the EIVA in attack percentage, hitting at a .328 clip for the season thus far. His 3.15 kills per game rank him sixth in the conference as well, but his 63 total kills has him second just behind the 70 put up by TJ Jurko of NJIT.
Saint Francis remains on the road for two matches this weekend beginning Friday with a trip to Romeoville, Ill. to take on No. 9 Lewis at 7 p.m.
