EIVA Release
LORETTO, Pa. (Feb. 6, 2012) – Junior middle blocker
Adam Roche (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) has been named the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association's Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.
This is the third time in the past four weeks that a Red Flash men's volleyball player has received a weekly award from the EIVA and is the first such honor for Roche in his collegiate career.
The Cochranton, Pa. native put up a career-high 13 total blocks (four solo, nine assisted) in a win over Mount Olive Thursday night, which helped SFU snap a six-game winless streak. Between the match against the Trojans and a victory over Juniata Friday night, the 6-6 middle blocker combined for four digs and 17 total blocks. Additionally, Roche added 11 kills and just two errors.
Saint Francis opens EIVA action this Friday night at home when NJIT visits Loretto for a 7 p.m. matchup.
