LORETTO, Pa. (April 10, 2012) – Saint Francis University Director of Athletics Bob Krimmel announced Tuesday the resignation of head men's and women's track & field and cross country coach Gordon Thomson.
 
“I want to thank coach Thomson for his service to Saint Francis University,” Krimmel said. “We wish Gordon the very best as he moves forward to the next chapter in his career.”
 
Thomson was in his third season as the head track & field and cross country coach for the Red Flash. In the fall he and his staff earned Northeast Conference Coaching Staff of the Year honors after guiding the SFU men's team to a second-place finish.
 
The resignation will be effective immediately and assistant coach Tamara Burns will assume the day-to-day operations of the program. A national search for the next head coach will begin following the spring championship season.
