Bowman Named to College Football Performance Awards Linebacker Watch List

LORETTO, Pa. (June 5, 2012)Anthony Bowman (Damascus, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) of the Saint Francis University football team earned a spot on the College Football Performance Awards Linebacker Watch List.

Bowman posted huge numbers as a sophomore in 2011 amassing 141 total tackles in his sophomore season falling just one shy of the Red Flash school record. The native of Damascus, Md. posted nine games last season with 10 or more tackles and five with 15 or more. College Madness named Bowman a second-team All-American as his 12.8-tackles per game ranked him sixth nationally while his 141 stops were the fifth-most in the FCS and the most in the Northeast Conference. Bowman finished 29 tackles ahead of every other player in the NEC in total tackles and was the only NEC player to average more than 11-tackles per game. As a program, the Red Flash have put together a streak of five-consecutive seasons with a player ranked in the top-12 nationally in tackles.

The Red Flash have now had two players named to CFPA Watch Lists as Bowman joins Kyle Harbridge (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) who earned recognition on the running back watch list. Saint Francis opens the 2012 season Sept. 1 with a road game against James Madison.
