Washi Gervais (Longueuil, Quebec/College Stanislas) has been named the Northeast Conference Men's Tennis Rookie of the Month.
Gervais rose to the occasion in his first month of collegiate play, posting a 4-3 singles mark competing at the Bucknell Quad and USTA Invitational. After knocking off a pair of Bison at the Bucknell event, the Quebec native fell in the finals in two closely contested sets (4-6, 6-7 (5)) to Brandon Gallegos of Niagara. Gervais went on to reach the back draw final at the USTA meet following wins over players from Sacred Heart and Saint Peter's.
The Red Flash is back in action on Sept. 28-30 when it takes part in the Penn Invitational in Philadelphia. Play will start each day at 9 a.m. on 18 courts -- 12 outdoor at the Hamlin Tennis Center, six indoor at the Levy Tennis Pavilion.
