Harbridge to Miss the 2012 Season with Injury

LORETTO, Pa. (Sept. 5, 2012) – The Saint Francis University football team released Wednesday that All-American running back Kyle Harbridge (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) will miss the 2012 regular season with a knee injury.

“The loss of Kyle is tough because he is a great player,” head coach Chris Villarrial said. “However now we have to move on and have other players to step up. We have some very talented players who are now going to get a lot more chances and we are going to need them to respond.”

Harbridge, who ranks as the Red Flash career leader in kick return average and kick return yards, led the Flash in rushing in 2011 with a school record 1,474, a mark which ranked sixth in the nation. The Easton, Pa. native also set single season school records in 2011 for rushing touchdowns, points and all-purpose yards. The running back received national attention in 2011 after rushing for a school record 346 yards in one game while also racking up 457 all-purpose yards falling just 10 yards short of the NCAA record. Harbridge will redshirt the 2012 season and will eye a 2013 return.

Saint Francis opens its 2012 home schedule Saturday against conference rival Bryant, kickoff is set for noon at DeGol Field.
