SFU Competes at IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Championships

LORETTO, Pa. (May 12, 2013)
- Selected student-athletes from the Saint Francis University track and field teams qualified to compete at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Championships over the weekend.

Brittany Johnson (Vienna, Va./George C. Marshall) continued her impressive junior campaign by placing fourth overall in the 100-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 11.88 on Saturday. In the semifinals, Johnson ran a 12.05, giving her a sixth place finish and qualifying her for the finals held on Sunday. In the finals, Johnson posted a time of 11.86 and finished fourth to earn five points for the Red Flash.

Johnson also ran in the 200-meter dash preliminaries on Saturday, placing 11th with a time of 24.32 and just missing a chance to qualify for the next round.

Paris Cotman (Richmond, Va./Meadowbrook) qualified for the Championships in the 400-meter, in the preliminaries she finished 21st with a time of 57.34, which did not advance her to the semifinals.

Ryan Steinbugl (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) competed in the pole vault on Saturday, but registered a no-height. 

SFU also had three relay teams qualify for the IC4A/ECAC Championships over the weekend. The men's 400-meter relay team earned a 12th place finish out of  28 teams in the preliminaries with a time of 42.13. The team consisted of Purcell Freeman (Columbia, Md./Long Reach), Trevor Shuler (Macon, Ga./Jones County), Daryian Miles (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck), and Daniel Drozdowsky (Toronto, Ontario/Michael Power-St. Joseph).

The women's 400-meter relay team placed 12th out of 22 teams with a time of 46.73. The team included Mykael Dixon (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mills), Alexis Hurd (Manchester, Md./North Carroll), Gabrielle McIntosh (Freeport, Grand Bahama, Bahamas/Sunland Baptist Academy), and Johnson.
