BETHLEHEM, Pa. – (Aug. 31, 2013) Junior Kylie Jackson (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) finished second overall out of 139 athletes in an exciting photo finish at the 2013 Lehigh XC 6K Invite.
"It was a good solid opener" said Kylie Jackson (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area). "I thought I ran well despite the heat and humidity. It was nice to be in contention up front. And I'm looking forward to everyone getting healthy and the team progressing"
Jackson sprinted over the finish line at 22:46.66, one second behind the first place finisher Rose Willey of Lafayette. Jackson outkicked Lafayette's number two runner Stephanie Benko, beating her by a ten of a millisecond for second place. Averaging 6:06 per mile Jackson set a personal record in the 6k at the Lehigh Invite.
Senior Feleisha Wright (Philadelphia, Pa./Jules Mastbaum) finished second for the Red and White completing the race in 24:37.94, placing 35th overall. Freshman Rebecca Johnson (Grampian, Pa./Curwensville) finished 54th with a 25:33.79 time marking a personal best for her.
Madeline Berry (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) placed 57th and Colleen Kelly (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) finished 67th rounding up the top five for SFU.
Saint Francis finished fifth out of 14 teams totaling 167 points.
The Saint Francis U women's cross country team races next on Sept. 14 at the Furman University Classic in Greenville South Carolina.
