Conway and Freeman Guide Flash At NYU

NEW YORK CITY – (1/19/13) Saint Francis U men's track and field team traveled to New York Friday afternoon for the "Saturday Night Shootout" hosted by New York University at the New Balance Track and Field Center.

Nicholas Conway (Port Allegany, Pa./Port Allegany) earned the only first place finish for the men's track and field squad. Conway earned 10 points on his 1.99-meter high jump; ranking sixth in the SFU indoor record books.

Purcell Freeman (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) had a strong performance in the 60-meter hurdles finishing a close second. Freeman now owns the top two SFU times for the men's 60-meter hurdles. Freeman's time, 8.30, ranks second in the Red Flash record books.

In the field events Eric Edwards (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) placed second in the weight throw with a 16.56-meter toss. Edwards throw placed him fifth in the SFU record books. Shamsiddin Little (Paulsboro, N.J./Paulsboro) and Edwards placed fifth and sixth in the shot put; Little marked 14.48-meters, while Edwards tossed 14.46-meters.

Saint Francis had two-relay teams mark top ten finishes. The 4x400-meter relay team finished fifth place out of 11 teams. The team consisted James Lassiter (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt), Trevor Shuler (Macon, Ga./Jones County), Daryian Miles (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck), and Daniel Drozdowsky (Toronto, Ontario/Michael Power-St. Joseph). Chris DeLaney (Leeper, Pa./Venango Catholic), Ryan Kennedy (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area) , Chris Fischer (Altoona, Pa./Altoona ), and Shaun Allen (Forestville, Md./Forestville) led the 4x800-meter relay team to a seventh place finish.

The men collected six top-ten finishes at the "Saturday Night Shootout"

There was no team scoring kept at the meet.

The men's track team returns to action at the Gulden Invitational January 25.
