NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (Nov. 1, 2014) -- The Saint Francis U men's cross-country team fulfilled their preseason ranking placing second at the Northeast Conference Championships.
The Central Connecticut State Blue Devils won their sixth straight NEC Championship Saturday afternoon totaling 15 points. Saint Francis held off third place Bryant University for second place averaging 26:50.40 as a team.
Saint Francis U landed three on the All-Conference team.
Ryan Kennedy (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area),
Bryce England (Williamsburg, Pa./Williamsburg, Pa.) and
Christopher Fischer (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) represented the Red Flash.
Kennedy led the way for Saint Francis placing seventh; he finished the Stanley Quarter Park course in 26:19.97. Freshman England placed one spot behind Kennedy with a 26:25.02.
Senior
Christopher Fischer (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) placed third on the SFU squad with a 26:35.51 finish.
Zachery Salek (Oakdale, Pa./West Allegheny) and
Gordon Phipps III (Oil City, Pa./Oil City) placed fourth and fifth on the team placing 21st and 24th.
