Oxenrider Named Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

LORETTO, Pa. (Sept. 18, 2014) – Saint Francis University women's basketball head coach Joe Haigh announced the hiring of Kayla Oxenrider as an assistant coach.

Oxenrider comes to Loretto after a one-year stint as an assistant coach at Albright College. She helped lead the Lions to a 13-12 overall record last season, which was its first winning record since the 2008-09 campaign.

At Albright, she was responsible for collaborating daily practice and game plans, budgeting, fundraising, and administering academic study halls. Oxenrider also developed a recruiting schedule covering five states.

"I am extremely excited about becoming a part of the Red Flash family," Oxenrider said. "I am eager to get to work with the Saint Francis women's basketball staff and the girls in our program."

Oxenrider obtained a Bachelor's degree in Education from Bloomsburg University in 2013 after enjoying a successful four-year playing career.

Over four seasons with the Huskies, Oxenrider started in 116 games. She averaged double-digit points every year, reaching the 1,000-point milestone in the NCAA tournament during her junior season.

Oxenrider was a two-time All-PSAC selection, leading her squad to the NCAA tournament in her junior and senior seasons. The Huskies won the 2012-13 PSAC championship, defeating Gannon and led by her 16 points.

"I'm very happy to add Kayla Oxenrider to our staff. She is an extremely hard worker, and has the most important qualities that we are looking for in every member of our program," Haigh said. "She has the desire and drive to be great at what she does, and an appreciation for the opportunity that Saint Francis provides. Kayla also has a great positive and upbeat personality and will relate very well with our student athletes. She will be a great addition to the Saint Francis community and our staff."

Saint Francis opens its 2014-15 season at Ohio State on Nov. 16. The Red Flash is looking to make its third consecutive trip to the Northeast Conference Championship Game.
