WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis University men's volleyball claimed its first win of the 2023 season against Alderson Broaddus on Saturday with a straight set victory.

>> Trevor Lewis (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East), Andrew Deardorff (Itasca, Ill./Lake Park) and Alex Finch (Mount Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) led the Red Flash in kills overall for the trio to collect 22 on the day.
 
>> AJ Schmidt (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) led the team in three statistical categories with three service aces, one block, and 23 assists.
 
TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
The first set was very close early on, but the Red Flash was still able to hold the lead throughout the entire set. With the set tied at 11, the Red Flash put up a 5-1 run to hold a significant lead over the Battlers to the end of the set. A kill from Stump gave Saint Francis the first set, 25-17. This gave the Red Flash the momentum to be able to go on and claim the next two sets for the straight set win.
 
FLASH MOMENTS
The Red Flash continued its momentum in the second set to only allow the Red Flash to gain the lead a couple times early on. With the set tied at five, the Red Flash notched a 2-0 run to take the lead and hold it for the remainder of the first set. A kill from Michael Mosbacher (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) gave the Red Flash the second set, 25-21.
 
The third and final set was more of the same. With the set tied at six, Saint Francis collected a 6-0 run to make the score 12-6 for the Red Flash to take the lead and hold it for the remainder of the game. Ashton Nahrup's (Loveland, Ohio/Archbishop Moeller) first collegiate kill gave the Red Flash the final set, 25-17.
 
FLASH NUGGETS
Richard Eber Jr. (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin), Richard Kaminski (Wexford, Pa./North Catholic) and Nahrup all made their collegiate debut in Saturday's game.
 
Jason Geary (Derry, Pa./Derry Area) made his 2023 season debut and collected three kills and two digs for the Red Flash.
 
Nathan Hayes (Erie, Pa./McDowell) notched his first collegiate kill on Saturday, while also giving the Red Flash 12 assists and two service aces.
