Saint Francis Men's Basketball Adds Two Players To 2023-24 Roster

LORETTO, Pa.  – Saint Francis University men's basketball head coach Rob Krimmel has announced the addition of junior walk-ons Will Helton and KJ Swain to the 2023-24 roster. With these two additions, the Red Flash roster has 12 scholarship players and seven walk-ons for a total of 19 players.

"I am excited to add Will and KJ to 23-24 roster," said Krimmel. "Aside from being good basketball players,  both of them bring experience and maturity that will be valuable to our locker room."

Will Helton is a 6-4 junior guard from Hollidaysburg, Pa., who has spent the last three seasons at Waynesburg, Lebanon Valley and Penn State DuBois. The son of longtime Saint Francis Associate Head Coach Andrew Helton, Will Helton had his best collegiate season last season with Penn State DuBois after averaging 8.3 points per game in 27 games including 20 starts. He registered nine 10+ point games, including a career-high 19 points against Penn State Shenango on November 15 and against Penn State Lehigh Valley on December 3. He started his collegiate career at Waynesburg where he appeared in 10 games with one start in 2021 and appeared in one contest at Lebanon Valley in 2021-22. The local product is a graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle, where he was named an Altoona Mirror All-Star as a senior and helped the team to 2018-19 state championship game, three district titles and twice the LHAC crown.

KJ Swain, Jr. is a 6-0 guard from Hamilton, Ohio, who played high school basketball at Hamilton and Cincinnati Christian High Schools for four years. He was named to the all-Ohio, all-conference, all-district teams along with the District 15 All-Star team and the earning the Playmaker of the Year award as a junior. His team won the MVC twice, districts as a junior and sectionals as a sophomore. Swain, who was a three-year team captain in high school, attended Xavier University for the first two years of college, but was not a member of the men's basketball team.
